Her path to the work

Dr. Wilson grew up in South Louisiana, where she began her American Sign Language career at Delgado Community College. She relocated to Arkansas to continue her interpreter education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and earned her M.Ed. from the University of North Florida. She holds the NIC, BEI-Advanced, and EIPA credentials.

Today she is a professor at UA Little Rock, practices as a freelance interpreter, and is heavily involved in her local DeafBlind community. Her passion is working with students and new interpreters, guiding them in developing their skills by focusing on interpreting processes and self-assessment practices. That same focus on process and self-assessment is the bar every interpreter in the Kindred network is measured against.

When she is not working, she enjoys gardening, spending time virtually with her nieces and nephews, and playing with her miniature schnauzer, Winston.
